About us

Hope for Victims of Traffic Accidents (HOVITA) is a registered national Non- Governmental Organization, dedicated to preventing road death and injury and caring for people bereaved and injured in road crashes in Uganda.

The organization was founded in 2013 with a VISION to have a community free from road crashes. And it Mission to protect the interests of road crash survivors and their families through the provision of psycho-social support, Road safety Education, Advocacy, legal Aid and vocational skills training. This is pursued through partnership building, participation in policy planning, implementation and monitoring, innovation and research, capacity building, awareness enhancement, mentorship amongst others.

The focus of HOVITA is road safety awareness, safe and sustainable road use in Uganda. We work at national, sub-national, and community level to promote road safety education, advocacy, reduce road trauma, and enable victims become productive again in the society.

Our Objectives

HOVITA is working towards achieving the following objectives for the benefit of its target group of road users and road crash survivors.

  • To advocate for the rights and obligations of road crash victims and road users.
  • To provide psychosocial support and legal aid to road crash survivor’s and their family members
  • Network with like-minded organizations to implement strategies aimed at reducing road crashes in Uganda
  • To generate funds for road safety awareness and support victims
  • Bridge the gap and space between insurance, hospitals, Police, and victims/survivors.
  • To provide livelihood skills to road crash survivors to be productive again in society
  • To work with relevant authorities to improve on collision investigation.
  • Conduct Road safety Training courses in Uganda.
  • Innovate and Research on Road safety issues.
